If you want to cut your finger off, use a chop saw. It works really well. Ask My Dahhlink. What is a chop saw? We must call it something different here. My grandfather removed an index finger with a band saw, he always smoked between middle and ring finger when I was growing up, but you never really noticed.

Miter saw, it 'chops' down.
My best friend when I was a teen smoked the same way. Still remember the first time we met, took me a few. The nose pick was always funny.

That device has been on the market for at least a decade if not longer.
So far I've only needed it the one time.
Fortunately, I only took an 1/8" "kerf" out of the side of my finger and not the whole tip. Since then I have drastically reduced the possibility of it happening again.
Retirement, the ultimate finger saver.
