OK the other option is to put in wood liners beveled at about 20 degrees to the high point about 3/32 to 1/4" proud of the face of the wall and tape to it

With the bevel away so there is a 'pocket' for the mud?

Bevel high side to the window. Tape coat, mud then tape then drag off to a level slightly below the high point. later coats fill and sand to the high point.

I built my liners out of the window on the ground, then shim them into place. Painted liners can have all but the final coat before install.

An makes sense. What doesn't make sense is running a 3 1/2" main thru one middle finger. ... Did you mean you ran a 3 1/2 inch nail through your middle finger?? That would explain this post!! Did you nail yourself to the board? Was it a nail gun? Did the fire department come and remove the nail? How was the emergency room?

Nail, not completely thru. Let bleed for a few minutes after removing then wrap tight for a few days. No medical bills.

Going to try to set the upper Windows this morning. The glass company did not follow the patterns I have them so they are inch longer than they should be. Thankfully I had lots of play and contrary to popular belief, length is less important than height.
